STRUCTURES ENGINEER

RebelSat UNLV was founded on the belief of inspiring students in the field of aerospace engineering at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Currently, our team is focused on the development of the RebelSat-1 spacecraft. We are developing novel material behavior detection techniques to aid in the progression of space technology development and the advancement of space exploration.

MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER

RebelSat is looking for students to design tertiary mission-critical components for engineering, test, and launch. Candidates would primarily work with the structures team to own design and development responsibilities over complex mechanical systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design and validate structures, mechanisms, and other systems that meet CDS, NASA, and launch provider requirements for launch.

  • Utilize tools in the realm of design, analysis, assembly, test, and manufacturing to develop reliable systems.

  • Ownership of product delivery timeline from inception to launch.

  • Develop test plans for systems through development, qualification, and acceptance testing.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree as a Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) student.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Solid understanding and application of GD&T.

  • Strong demonstrated capability in design, CAD and FEA

  • Hands-on project experience with complex mechanical systems, preferably as a lead.

  • Demonstrated understanding of structural analysis and failure modes of complex mechanical systems.

  • Self-motivated with strong organizational, written, and oral communication skills.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to work long hours and weekends as necessary.

  • Export control course clearance via CITI Program.

ITAR/EAR REQUIREMENTS:

  • To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Export Administration Regulations (EAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
