RebelSat UNLV was founded on inspiring students in the field of aerospace engineering at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Currently, our team is focused on the development of the RebelSat-1 spacecraft. We are developing novel on-orbit maneuvering techniques to aid in the progression of space technology development and the advancement of space exploration.

SOFTWARE ENGINEER

We are seeking a CubeSat Software Engineer to join our team to develop and maintain software for our CubeSat project. The ideal candidate will have experience programming hardware parts and control loop systems, preferably in Python.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Design, implement, and maintain software for the CubeSat project, including the control loop system and various hardware components.

  • Collaborate with the Avionics team to ensure compatibility between the software and hardware components.

  • Develop and maintain documentation for the software design and implementation.

  • Test and validate the software to ensure it meets project requirements and specifications.

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest software development tools, techniques, and practices.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree as a Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) student.

  • Programming experience in Python and/ or C++

  • Experience with hardware programming, including sensors, actuators, and microcontrollers.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

 

PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Experience with CubeSat development or other space-related projects.

  • Experience with version control systems such as Git.

  • Familiarity with software development best practices.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to work weekdays and weekends as necessary (flexible).

  • Export control course clearance via CITI Program.

ITAR/EAR REQUIREMENTS:

  • To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Export Administration Regulations (EAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
